My Internship Journey at Millennial Software

As I reflect on my time at Millennial Software, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunities and experiences I've had over the past months. Mentorship has played a crucial role in my growth, not just as a professional but also as a person. To me, mentorship is about guidance, support, and the sharing of wisdom and experience. It's about having someone who believes in your potential and helps you navigate challenges both big and small.

I've been incredibly fortunate to have mentors such as Binh Tran and Christopher Yeung who embody these qualities. Their support has been instrumental in my development. From the moment I joined Millennial Software, I felt welcomed and encouraged to push my boundaries. My mentors have been there every step of the way; offering insights, feedback, and encouragement.

Hands-on experience has driven my learning to new heights.

My time at Millennial Software has been a blend of hands-on experience. I've worked on various aspects of our project in conjunction with the SDA TAP Lab Cohort 3. From data aggregation to analysis, each task had its unique set of challenges and learning opportunities. One of the aspects of my work here that I am most excited about is continuous learning. Technology is ever evolving and there is always something new to discover. When I started this internship, I had little experience with developing and deploying software as a service, but during my time here I learned a lot about how to use Docker and Kubernetes to help achieve those goals. I also had only begun to scratch the surface of the latest advances in the industry such as artificial intelligence and machine learning. Recently, I've been delving into the intricacies of machine learning, helping to create and refine a recurrent neural network to predict the next maneuver of a satellite. The process of training models and refining algorithms has been both challenging and rewarding. Each breakthrough, no matter how small, feels like a significant achievement. No matter how long you’ve been developing software, there’s always something new to learn.

Collaboration has been a key component of my internship.

Working closely with my colleagues, especially Nathan Metzger, Micah Sherry, Ainsley Weidensall, and Noah Grattan, has been an enriching experience. I've learned a great deal from their diverse perspectives and expertise. Together, we've tackled complex problems, brainstormed innovative solutions, and celebrated our successes. The camaraderie and team spirit at Millennial Software have made even the toughest challenges enjoyable.

Of course, not every moment has been smooth sailing. There have been setbacks and moments of doubt. But each obstacle has been a learning experience. I've learned to approach problems with a solution-oriented mindset and to seek help when needed. My mentors and colleagues have been invaluable in these moments, providing guidance and reassurance.

This internship has laid a strong foundation for my professional journey.

As I look back on my time at Millennial Software, I am filled with a sense of accomplishment and appreciation. The skills and knowledge I've gained, the relationships I've built, and the experiences I've had will stay with me for a long time. I am grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey, especially my mentors, who have been the guiding lights in my professional development.

My internship at Millennial Software has been a transformative experience. It has taught me the true value of mentorship, the importance of continuous learning, and the power of teamwork. I am excited to carry these lessons forward and to continue growing and evolving in my career.
